Welcome to the new blog of the Belgian UWC Network. The old static website had become too complex to efficiently maintain. It has thus been replaced by this more dynamic blog to keep up with the need to manage user-generated content (welcome web 2.0)! The aim of this channel remains the same as before ie.,' to provide a fast, efficient and reliable channel of communication between members of the Belgian UWC Network on the Internet.'

General assembly in March, all welcome! - Save the date!
The UWC Belgium General Assembly (GA) will most probably take place on saturday March 24 at about 4 pm. Everybody welcome!
Please reserve this date in your agenda. Official invitation will follow.
And remember for UWCCR: every euro counts. If each of us gives 210 euros on an average we will be able to reach the target of 6000 euros! Please try to make a transfer to 000-0000004-04 from the Koning Boudewijnstichting/Fondation Roi Baudouin with the message: United World Colleges alumni scholarship.

2007 Selection - Save the date!
Selection this year will be held on saturday february 10.
This year again, we can count on a strong ex-students selection team (10 members).
We are introducing some new groupgames in the afternoon which will make it an interesting and useful experience for all candidates, selected or not.
We have a strong pool of applications this year. We hoped to have more candidates, since we have made serious efforts in PR and communications. Publicity for a UWC is an ongoing and longterm investment. We expect that in the near future we will reap the fruits of our current efforts.

Christmas gathering for students and their parents
On december 22 we had a Christmas dinner with the current students. For the first time we invited their parents as well. Since an ex-student who is now a parent made us realise that going to a UWC is an adventure for the students, but it equally is an adventure in its own kind for the parents! It happened to be a wonderful meeting for everyone.
Students from all four colleges were present: Jana from India (MUWCI), Bruno from Costa Rica (UWCCR), Basiel from the US (AHUWC) and Sybille from Hong Kong (LPCUWC). A very enthusiastic bunch of students full of stories, energy and ideas. Although all from a different college, ties were very strong and a general UWC spirit was clearly present.
The parents found it very useful to meet up together. The first steps towards a parent network were taken and parents have made the commitment to be present at our next infoday. This to be able to answer questions from parents of new candidates.
